The editors of Slate magazine has published a piece of honest journalism. In this article, they admit that in an internal poll, they voted for Obama 55:1 against McCain.
This, of course, comes as no surprise. A similar ratio would be true for the NYT, Time, Newsweek, ABC, CBS, NPR, CNN. For NBC and MSNBC, it would be 56:0.
These journalists come out of Journalism schools across the country. These schools are usually on the the liberal end of Liberal Arts colleges. They are populated with people who want to 'make a difference' or some other equally vapid reasons. Intellectual standards are questionable and dissent is not only not encouraged, but actively discouraged. They embrace speech codes, while touting themselves as the vanguard of free expression.
These students do well in Women's studies and Black Studies classes. These courses drive anyone possessing intellectual honestly out the door in the first week. Not the journalists. They would not think of offending their professors. They simply parrot the liberal line, graduate with good grades - and can't get 'real' jobs when they are done.
They move in droves to the MSM where, now, they do not even have to put on the charade of objectivity. They are simply organs of the Democrat party. Should the Messiah win, the Fairness doctrine will be reinstated. The MSM will deemed to be 'fair' and will be exempt from the rules that will drive conservative talk radio off the air by demanding broadcasters give equal time to shows that will draw audiences in the dozens.
If this is what you want - by all means - the Messiah is your man. If you still believe in the American dream - McCain is the better choice.

Apparently - WE don't have 'standing' to ask Obama about his Birth Certificate
As I fully expected, the Berg lawsuit challenging BHO's citizenship (or lack thereof) was dismissed today. Given the Liberal nature of the bench today (mirroring the liberal nature of Law Schools and Universities in general), this can hardly come as a surprise.
I did, though, find the judges' reason interesting. After calling the allegations frivolous (which is odd - since he never allowed any evidence to be submitted) he stated that Mr. Berg did not have STANDING to bring the suit. Think about that - Mr. Berg, an American citizen, does not have the legal standing to challenge whether a man who wants to be POTUS, is legally qualified to hold the position.
Now, if he does not have standing, who the hell DOES have standing? There is no mention in the Constitution of how to 'vet' a candidate. So, basically, ANYONE can tell us they are qualified - and we are to simply believe it. It looks like Ahnold can run after all.
Shortly after the ruling, Mr. Berg said he will immediately appeal to SCOTUS. Don't expect this to bear any fruit. The hour is late and the court is not likely to want to wade into this issue. But, being that it is a fundamental Constitutional question, I think it is a serious dereliction of duty for them to duck this. To help this, a full page ran on 17 November..sweet.
Also, shortly after the ruling, the Hawaii Dept of Public records SEALED all of Obama's birth related records (if there actually are any) until after the election!! Why the hell would this be necessary? One can only wonder.
At the same time, Kenyan officials also sealed all of BHO's records. Remember Kenya, the place where Obama's grandmother said she was PRESENT for his birth, in Kenya. Remember now, Kenya is NOT in Hawaii. What records are in Kenya that need sealing anyway? We will probably find out - after the election. Just slip some Kenyan official twenty bucks and we will have everything. But, then it will be too late.

Selfish Americans
As we know, the MSM is touting the impending victory of BHO, and the attendant lurch towards socialism. Part of the BHO theme is that we need to help each other. I agree. And, so it seems, do Americans in general. (Though not Biden, who gave an average of less than $400 per year from 1996 forward, while making over $200,000).
In reflecting on this, I remembered some data on charitable giving. To wit - the more of a 'nanny-state' you have, the less generous you become. For those of you that always whine about data :-) -
The following graph shows American giving, as a percentage of our income, compared to the rest of the world. It is provided by the Charities Aid Foundation. You can find the report here.
This concerns me!! It seems the more Socialist a country becomes, the less generous they are. Said another way, the more a 'society' cares, the LESS their citizens do. I see two reasons for this:

I thought the world LOVES Obama
I find this curious. We are told how the world LOVES BHO. How the world cannot wait to rid itself of Bush. Socialist Europe is having group orgasms over the thought of BHO as POTUS (even more than the mere thrill up Chris Matthew's leg). So, splain me this, according to Joe 'the gaffe machine' Biden:
This the same guy that during the Democrat primary debates said BHO was not ready to be president Pesky Video proof.
How can this be? The world will 'generate' a crisis to test the mettle of the Messiah? Who is this world? The Socialists love him, the communists (at least the communist parties in the US) have endorsed him, Hamas wants him, FARC also, and let's not forget Hezbollah. (We are still waiting for the Bin Laden tape to endorse him. Based on the timing of the OBL tape endorsing Kerry - it should be coming soon).
So, who is this 'world' that will 'generate' the crisis? Wait - I have an clue. It could be our ENEMIES that want BHO because they know he is likely a weak-knee, appeasing, waffling, dufus when it comes to foreign conflict. Biden, who has a lot to say about foreign policy (but is uniformly WRONG historically) will be of little help.
I guess we will just try to talk our enemies to death. Then we can have a NEW middle name for Barack. Not the 'Steve' he suggested in his comedy routine, but Neville. (You know Neville Chamberlain - the man who tried to appease Hitler and led the world into WWII...oh, nevermind)

Joe the Plumber - the Liberals don't get it
The liberals don't get it. I have been reading about the 'backlash' against 'Joe the plumber'. The libs are pointing out:
The Libs are giddy about this. In there view, Their 'opposition' research paid off. They have, again, tried to destroy their 'opponent' (did you know that Todd Palin got a DUI 20 years ago. If you did, thank 'opposition research').
I have read things like 'Joes head on a pike', 'Joe the plumber backlash', 'Joe's three strikes'.
Well, you can file this under 'wishful thinking'.
The Libs may think the details about Joe are important - but they are wrong. The only thing about Joe is that got BHO to say 'Spread the wealth around' and Joe called him a Socialist.My friends, no one really cares about Joe. It is Joe's question of BHO that struck a nerve. People instinctively 'got it' when BHO uttered his socialist remark. They 'get' redistribution - and the DON'T like it. When you call it 'fairness' or 'investment' or some other moniker - they may fall for it. But when you put the word 'redistribution' or 'socialist' to it - they recoil. And, it is sticking. That is why the effort to destroy Joe instead of 'clarifying' BHO's answer to his question.
Now, finally, McCain is calling BHO a Socialist. Finally - at long last. I suspect Sarah has pushed him into this - good on her. Result of the last week of events?
The polls are now within the margin of error, as I predicted Click. Behind this, as Ann points out is that 16% say they lie to pollsters, which is big when the spread is 3%. She also has a great analysis of the Democrat tilted advantage in the polls in EVERY election since 1976. I believe (despite the pundits attempts to minimize it) that the Bradley effect is still alive - which would tend to inflate both the 16% and the Democrat tilt in the polls when compared to actual ELECTIONS). You gotta know that the DNC has internal polling that is scaring the hell out of them. They know if they are not up 10 points now - they have not closed the deal.
They can talk about transition teams and election night celebrations in public. Chicken, meet hatching egg.

- He is not licensed (he actually works under his boss's license - which is legal)
- He may not actually buy the plumbing business (the owner has not agreed to sell)

Global Warning Alert - It ain't happening!!
As I said in my witty and insightful inaugural post back in June Words I do not like, I think Man-Made Global warming is a crock of shit.
And, based on the increased amounts of glacial ice this year, due to COOLER temperatures, it would see the PLANET agrees with me. You should read this article, because you won't see in in the NYT or WaPo or on NBCCBSCNNMSMBCNPR. And to you Liberals out there - even though it is from an Alaskan newspaper, you can go ahead and read it. I have confirmed it was NOT written by Sarah (because I know how much she scares you). This is a quick link to another recent article. I reposted my post to include it.
Some interesting tidbits for those of you that lack the intellectual curiosity to read the whole thing:

Obama says: Spread the wealth around
In Ohio (Where I am currently living) this weekend, BHO was asked by a local plumber:
You need to carefully parse the response BHO gives:
Now, this in itself is fairly disturbing. He thinks the government has a role in making sure 'the people behind you' have a chance for success too. Now, we can only infer he intends to do this by raising this guys taxes. Why? Well, he says he does not want to 'punish' success..(the is an implied 'but' there) I just want to make sure....
So, basically he is saying, :I don't WANT to punish you -- but, I will."
The really scary part comes next, again from BHO:
Really? Well - I agree that spreading the wealth IS good. BUT -- I would prefer that the market, free enterprise, initiative, hard work, creativity, etc, result in this spreading.
BHO, though, believes the TAX CODE should do the spreading. Take it from the producers, and give it to someone else. This is a spreading alright, a spreading of BS. I re-read my copy of the Constitution again tonight (you should do so once in a while, it is very enlightening) to make sure I did not miss that part about the Government being empowered to execute this kind of wealth transfer. Sure enough, no matter how many times I look - it is NOT there.
This all reminds me of a very famous quote:
It is attributed to Karl Marx, written in 1875. And is one of the foundational principles of a wonderful system known as COMMUNISM. I have called BHO a socialist in this blog before. I guess I was being too kind to the Messiah (not my words, but those of another beacon in the black community, Louis Farrakhan) because BHO is apparently harboring Communist ideals in that pointy head of his.

Bush's Resignation Speech
I got this from a friend -- A suggestion for a Bush Resignation speech.
Man - Do I not wish some politician would have the stones to say 1/2 that stuff. So, So, So true.....
Normally, I start these things out by saying 'My Fellow Americans.' Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.
I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: There's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.
The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people. I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.
Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media.
Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.
We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this 'blood for oil' thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq 's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied...People Died' crap either. If I were the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.
Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ' Clinton ' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that t, did you?
Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we should attack Pakistan , a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran and make peace with a terrorist who says he's going to destroy us. While he's doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into citizens, so they can vote to re-elect him. He also thinks we just need to sit down and talk to Iran and things would be better (what the hell do you think we have been doing behind the scenes), and we should stop our foreign aid to Israel . Did you sleep through high school or what?
You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to outspend and out-tech them.
That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over the globe.
You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor.'
Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.
Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well Fed Ex a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.
In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times, USA Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with Stars.
I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.
I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.
So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) More about our houses hereand the capability to be fully self-sufficient for years. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.
Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.
So that's it. God bless what's left of America .

A word on the polls - don't get discouraged
As conservatives, the polls right now can be disheartening. We are rather stunned that such a vapid, empty suit as BHO can be leading.
But, take heart. This is a quote from Slate magazine from before the Bush v Gore election;
WRONG.
Here are a few things to remember:
1) The polls almost uniformly over-sample Democrats. They take their 'sample' and then 'adjust' it based on their believe about the 'actual' split between that parties. The more honest ones will show you this if you look into the poll's internals.
2) When you see the polled 'adults' - add 8-10% to the Rep score.
When you see 'registered voters - a 6-8
When you see 'likely voters' - add 2-4.
Why - because this will about wash out the rigged way a lot of polls are taken, the sample they use, and will more gel with reality
3) Especially in this election - people lie to the pollsters. This is a 'white guilt' thing. Remember the 'Bradley effect'. When Tom Bradley ran for CA Governor in 1982, he was leading in the polls. But, he lost. Bradley was a black man running against a white opponent. People told pollsters they would vote for Bradley - but ultimately, did not. It was understood at the time as a racial bias. This is not dead in 2008.
There was a poll that attempted to ask people if race affected their vote. What they SHOULD have asked was 'Will race affect the way your friends and family vote?'. People's own feelings would be more honestly revealed with that question.
4) The polls will tighten around 10 days before the election. Pollsters care about their reputations - and the last polls prior to election day are how they are judged.
Now is not the time for pessimism. Keep fighting the good fight. Start volunteering, keep talking to your friends and co-workers.
For McCain - my advice:
- No more Mr. Nice guy. Point out Ayers, point out Alinsky, point out BHO's links to ACORN. Remind people of the Annanberg Challange. Do it with passion. Do it in between explaining to people what YOU will do.
- Tell people the REAL cause of the financial mess - Federal Govt meddling in the Free Market. Defend the market - don't make it the villain.
- Release Sarah to be Sarah. Let her disagree with you on the stump. Let her passion flow. She is your best weapon.
Now, I don't know whether this will work. This is a tough year for us. People are sheep - they look at BHO as some kind of Savior. We have seemed to lost our passion and understanding of the power of Liberty. People seem to want a nanny-state. ACORN is busy with nationwide voter fraud and swelling the rolls with bogus, absentee voters.
But, don't give up - don't be depressed. Get pissed and get busy.

Repost- The so-called Employee Free Choice Act

I am adding a link to Human Events: 10/6 H/E Article. I am glad to see that someone else finally noticed this 'card-check' issue.
I am not going to blog on the whole VP brouhaha - It bores me. Though, I am fascinated to see Obama saying 'I have more experience than Sarah Palin' - If he were only running for VPOTUS, this might make some sense....
Anyway - on the the mis-named 'Employee Free Choice Act', or EFCA. This should win the award for the 'Most Deceptively Named Legislation' in history.
The thrust of the act: It would remove the requirement for a secret ballot in elections that decide whether workers at a company want to form a union.
Instead, it would allow something called 'card-check'. This means that a Union representative (let's call him Vito - or Crusher, or Knuckles) would come to the employee of a company that the union was seeking to organize. Vito would hand the employee a 'card' and ask (nicely, I am sure) 'Duze you wants to sign this here card to get da union?'.
Now, you as the employee, can either sign - or, face the prospect of a late night visit from Vito and the other Crusher brothers to 'discuss' your objection to the Union. This will not be hard to imagine - since the Union will have the names of all 'prospective members' at their disposal.
This is compared to the current, secret, ballot where no one knows who voted for or against the union. What is interesting is that the Union's originally pushed for the secret ballot to battle company's intimidation of its workers. And it worked exactly that way - it protected workers from company retaliation. But now, it is protecting workers from Union intimidation - so enter the 'card check' of the EFCA.
It was very clever to name this bill the EFCA. The only free choice you have is to sign the card in the presence of Union thugs to avoid getting your ass kicked later - or phone calls at night - or vandalism of your car....you get the picture.

Obama Birth Certificate: Where art thou?
As I postulated in my post of 22Sept (Previous Post something very fishy is up with BHO and his citizenship.
Quick background. BHO has provided a 'Birth Certificate' from Hawaii. Any professional forensic document expert who has voiced an opinion seems to say it is as FORGED as the Dan Rather letters. It is missing key markers that a valid one should have, and an official from the Hawaii Dept of Records is quoted as saying, basically, it is not one of theirs. According to Hawaii law, only BHO or his family can request a copy - so the public is locked out.
It seems most likely that little Barry was actually born in Kenya - not Hawaii. And, as the law at the time required, his mother was too young to confer citizenship US on him. Also, Barry was later adopted by an Indonesian man. He later enrolled in school in Jakarta, with the a last name other than Obama - and listing his citizenship as 'Indonesian'. This adoption, apparently, would have nullified his US citizenship.
So, how is the public to REALLY know? You can scour the blogs - and find everything from BHO's own websites, to newspapers, to self-described 'experts', to the '9/11 was an inside job' crowd. My wife asked how this can happen. Turns out, I don't think there is an official 'show us your Presidential qualifications' committee. It looks like filing a lawsuit, and demanding the proper documentation, is the only way.
To wit, a Mr. Berg (Democrat and Hillary supported) filed a lawsuit in August to force Obama to produce a real copy of his birth certificate.(He tried to get it done prior to the Dem convention). The DNC and Obama filed a motion to dismiss last week. That motion is still pending. Status here
It is curious that Obama would file a motion to dismiss, rather that produce a verifiable copy of his birth certificate. UNLESS, he is simply unable to do so. Also of some note, the lawyer BHO hired previously worked for CAIR - the Council for American Islamic Relations, a group that is purported to have wide and deep ties to terrorist organizations. BHO chose, for some reason, not to hire a Immigration type lawyer, but one with ties to CAIR.
Now, should the lawsuit NOT be dismissed (I know nothing about Judge Surrick, the presiding judge) things could get very interesting. Who knows the protocol here? Who can demand a candidate prove he is a citizen? I would assume only SCOTUS would be in such a position. Now, SCOTUS normally only takes cases on appeal - and then not as a finder of facts, but only to review procedure and such.
If this suit stays alive (and even it dismissed in the current venue) - I am just curious if the wheels of justice can move fast enough to get this heard by SCOTUS prior to the election.
One last question - if the suit survives and is obviously going somewhere, WHEN will you read about in the New York Times or hear about it from perky like Ms. Couric?

I made the paper
One of my many letters to the editor of our local, liberal, paper actually got printed. They recently reported about a shooting on our local University Campus by a 19 year old. This struk me are ironic. We have laws against just this type of thing. The campus is a 'gun free zone' - or criminal protection zone. And 19 year olds cannot legally purchase guns here. So, what's up? Here is the text of the letter:
Just my little bit to point out the idiocy of our gun laws. Not that it will matter --- but what the heck - why not.
Surprise! Criminals ignore gun lawsI am writing in regard to the shooting at the University of Akron involving a 19-year-old suspect (''Man shot on campus,'' Sept. 27). This must be a mistake. Guns are banned on the University of Akron campus. Handgun purchases by 19-year-olds are illegal in Ohio. So, since we know sensible gun control should eliminate this type of incident, your report is clearly wrong. Or, more likely, laws like this are simply ignored by the criminal element, and hence have zero impact on crime while limiting the rights of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves. I wonder which is the case here? |

An American Carol
Just got back from opening night of 'An American Carol'.
It is a very funny flick that is a parody of the fat-ass Michael Moore.
Great line from Kelsey Grammer-as George Patton, in reference to the Moore character (played in excellent fashion by Chris Farley's brother) 'What a douche bag'.
I highly recommend all conservatives see this flick for 2 reasons:
1) It is some good escapist entertainment
2) Show the ass-holes in Hollywood that we are out here and will respond to pro-american movies.
Also loved the kids dissing on Moore...one calls him 'uncle asshole'.....
One scene gave me the chills - seeing the soldiers in historical uniforms in the audience at a pro-troops concert in Madison Square Gardens. The looked to be standing guard - and it put a lump in my throat.
Go see it - this weekend.
